Diversity Makes Us Stronger

Like many jobs that rely on a group of people to accomplish a goal, one of the things that makes a feed yard successful is the ability of the crew to come together as a team. Individual knowledge, talent and effort helps to accomplish a task, but it is the harmony found by team members coming together to achieve a common goal that creates a successful animal experience.

What provides the difference between a bunch of individuals working on a task and a team coming together to blend their talents and efforts in a search for excellence?

If you travel near Macksville, Kansas, you’ll find Dillwyn Feedyard located in a quiet spot off a gravel road. A glance will show a diverse crew busily working on daily chores. A deep study will find a family – One that prides itself on a culture created by selfless attitude and driven by tenacious love.

Four of the five guys at Dillwyn have a traditional family connection, but all five of them come together every day to support each other as they care for cattle. In the words of manager Ty Taylor, “There’s nothing like loving what you do and being able to share it with someone you love. I wouldn’t be where I am today without my team. At the end of the day, we’re all family here.”

The “family bond” runs deep in Hispanic culture. Its presence provides a tremendous asset to our feed yard teams. It is something that you can feel when you spend time with the crews, and it is something that you can see reflected in the well-being of the animals that they care for.

That cultural family bond fosters:

Today, we’d like to issue a heart-felt “thank you” to our Hispanic crew members. Our company would not be where we are today without you. In a time when cultural differences threaten to rip apart our country, you all give selflessly to help be the glue that holds us together on our search for excellence in cattle care. You inspire us to dig deep – to give boldly – and to feel the blessing of family every day at our feed yards.

Together - We are stronger.
